My twin sister and her child were killed in a car accident, and losing my sister totally changed my life. Sometimes we siblings are overlooked in our grief. And often, we’re not just dealing with sibling loss, as was my case, with the death of my son 19 years ago. Since then, I have tried to help others navigate the uncharted territory of death, dying and the bereavement process.

Hello, I’m Michele Neff Hernandez. Welcome to the Open to Hope Spouse Loss resource page. I was 35 when my husband was hit and killed by a car while riding his bicycle. His death turned my world upside down. I didn’t know how to be a widow, and wish I’d had a checklist or a map that would tell me what to do with the rest of my life.
