Andrea Magder

Andrea Magder is a writer and grief coach based in New York City. She is the founder of The Artist Lives Gallery, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the creative legacies of unrecognized artists who passed away without receiving the recognition they deserved in their lifetimes. The organization was inspired by the loss of her son, Ethan, in 2017, and the discovery of his powerful and unpublished writing and artwork. Andrea’s mission is to help families keep their loved ones’ creative spirits alive and visible. Her background includes years of experience writing for stage and screen, as well as working in feature film development and producing independent films for theatrical release. More recently, she has turned to personal essay and nonfiction writing. Her work explores grief, healing, and purpose, and has been published in Elephant Journal, with an essay forthcoming in Next Avenue in May 2025. Andrea is also a certified grief coach, with a particular focus on supporting those who have lost loved ones to addiction. Her work, whether through writing, coaching, or her nonprofit, is driven by a desire to channel pain into purpose, and foster creative legacy.
