Lisa Tomei

Lisa Tomei began her dream journalism job as Lisa Parks, a stringer at a local newspaper in the late 1990's. As a fledgling newspaper reporter, when Lisa's second daughter, Amy, was diagnosed with leukemia, the paper she was writing for published a short exclusive series of her personal journal entries documenting the cancer diagnosis and initial months of treatment. Lisa became Amy's full-time caregiver for almost a decade until Amy's passing in 2007. It took over a decade to realize that she had masked her intense grief quickly by getting busy, living life, living for others, and had fallen away from published writing and social service. Her passion and commitment had been buried with her grief, and was slowly, unknowingly, replaced with doubt, insecurity, and feelings of lack and insignificance. After working with people in their homes for a few decades doing clutter clearing, life coaching, and sharing various modalities that had brought her own 'grief relief,' she's come full circle back to writing as part of ongoing healing. There are so many ways grief finds its way into our unique experiences each day; Lisa shares through words and story not only how to recognize it, but through lived experiences about how to reframe and utilize its potential for good and joy!
