Katherine Relf-Canas

Katherine Relf-Canas splits her time between freelance writing, teaching and editorial projects while volunteering for PSE, an NGO that runs a school in Cambodia that serves and supports children and families in poverty, taking them from destitution to a vocation. She also works and volunteers with Kids & Art, a nonprofit that provides art workshops and other support for families facing pediatric cancer. She has written for blogs and contributed to print magazines since 1996. She has been writing about the healing power of art for this site since 2012, and dedicated the project to her mother, Connie Relf, who worked as an artist and died in 2010.
