Award-Winning Writer/Director of both Stage and Film, Stephen Dest has worked at a number of prominent theaters along the way, including: Long Wharf, Yale Rep, Seattle Rep, TheaterWorks, Goodspeed Opera House, Coconut Grove Playhouse, The Kennedy Center, BTC, Vital Theater, MTC, PaperMill Playhouse, The Shubert  and The Nederlander.     

Along with his theatrical work, Stephen has also written and directed a number of noteworthy film projects; including the short film BLIND (Cannes Film Festival-2008), and the 2013 award winning feature film MY BROTHER JACK   winner of BEST FILMMAKER (Philadelphia Independent Film Festival), BEST PICTURE & BEST DIRECTOR (New England Underground Film Festival) BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY (Napa Valley Film Festival).  MY BROTHER JACK is available on most VOD platforms including: Amazon Prime, ITunes and Vudu (Wal-Mart). I AM SHAKESPEARE (The Henry Green Story) is  his latest film, scheduled for release in 2018. He is also the recipient of the 2012 “Artist of the Year” (Filmmaker) awarded by the Arts Council of Greater New Haven. Mr. Dest is founder/head of the Drama Department at Neighborhood Music School in New Haven, CT. and Professor (of Film Studies) at the University of Connecticut. He also Guest Lecturers at a number of schools and universities.
