Perry started writing after the sudden loss of his son, Andrew. This book is a compilation of the writings about his personal experiences after the loss. They are about his son and other topics that have resonated with his family, friends and many followers. This book is a resource to help bereaved parents and those who care for them, to understand and deal with the loss of their children. The profits from this book will be returned to the community. Either through Andrew’s Foundation supplying sporting equipment to those who can not afford the equipment, through supporting Bereavement groups and causes, or through supporting Emotional support animals, such as Sam.
What makes this book unique is that it has many facets. We don’t tell you how you should feel, or the stages you are going to go through, as everyone is different. We also don’t tell you all about my son Andrew, although there are a lot of stories in the book about him.
What we do do is to talk about what you may hear, or see, or partake in. Chapters such as what other people say to us, and how to deal with it rationally, about foundations, that many grieved parents set up, about the first holidays. Lots of what we felt, but also what we have heard in the many bereavement group meetings we attended. So, it is not a quick fix book, but more of a what you may experience, what you can expect, and the hope of “getting better” and “moving on with your life” even when that sounds ridiculous or you feel you can never move on.
We have received numerous positive emails about how this book and the stories have helped so many, many from clergy, parents, LCSW’s, and more.
This is a great first step in starting to read and learn about grief, especially your personal grief. There is hope, there is getting your life again, and yet never forgetting or letting go of your lost loved one.
