Episode 40: Helping Families Deal With Drug and Alcohol Overdose

On this show Dr. Gloria Horsley and Dr. Heidi Horsley interview Barbara Allen whose son, Jim, overdosed on heroin and alcohol in 2003.  She is the founder of  “Shatter the Stigma” an organization with the goal of bringing the disease of addiction into the light of hope and healing.  Joining her on the show is Dave Roberts, LMSW, CASAC, a bereaved parent and addiction professional. Both Barbara and Dave are actively involved with The Compassionate Friends. The Show will close with singer songwriter Paul Alexander singing, “Light a Candle.”  Played at memorial candle lightings around the world.

Episode 39: Finding Hope After Multiple Deaths

On this show Dr. Gloria Horsley and Dr. Heidi Horsley interview Jill Kraft Thompson an amazing woman who has re-built her life after losing five people she loved the most. She survived the car crash that killed five members of her family – her husband Bart, her two sons, Ben and Sam, her mom and her niece, Sarah. She is the author of “Finding Jill”.  Richard Beck Ph.D. and trauma expert gives his thoughts on trauma recovery.  The show will closes with singer songwriter Paul Alexander singing “Light a Candle”.

Episode 38: Traumatic Loss 9/11

On this show Dr. Heidi and Dr. Gloria Horsley interview Susan Esposito Lombardo whose father Billy Esposito, vice president and partner at Cantor Fitzgerald was killed on the 104th floor of the north tower on 9/11.  In his memory the family founded A Caring Hand, The Billy Esposito Foundation and Bereavement Program helping grieving children and their families. Robin Goodman Ph.D. director of the foundation discusses their work.  The show closes with singer and songwriter Paul Alexander singing “Pennies From Heaven”.

On this show Dr. Gloria Horsley and Dr. Heidi Horsley discuss with comedian Jordon Feber and Keith Singer the impact of the loss of their siblings and how they have found hope after loss and gone to inspire others who have lost brothers and sisters.  Both Jordon and Keith are involved with The Compassionate Friends Foundation and have helped thousands of siblings on their journey of loss and recovery.  The show closes with Capathia Jenkins and Amber Iman signing “We Will Never Be Apart” from the musical “Harriet” based on the story of Harriet Tubman.
