I was glad to see that Wayne Loder cited several studies done on behalf of Compassionate Friends showing that the divorce rate among bereaved parents is 12%-16%, far below the national average.  Further, I agree with my mom (Dr. Gloria) that grieving parents, do not need to be told that their marriage cannot survive a profound loss. Does God answer prayer? ASU research says ‘yes’

Does God or some other type of transcendent entity answer prayer? The answer, according to a new Arizona State University study published in the March journal Research on Social Work Practice, is “yes.” ?David R. Hodge, an assistant professor of social work in the College of Human Services at Arizona State University , conducted a comprehensive analysis of 17 major studies on the effects of intercessory prayer ? or prayer that is offered for the benefit of another person ? among people with psychological or medical problems. He found a positive effect.

From Dr. Gloria The following stresss rearch study is very important for all of us who have lost family members.  Again the message to me is that the fact that Phil, my husband, and I had different responses to Scott’s death was NORMAL. Phil shut down and lost himself in work while I talked to friends, colleagues and anyone who would listen. My Dog, Tally, Died

By Dr. Gloria Horsley I was on my way to work on Friday when my son-in-law called to say the family dog, Tally, was hit and killed while chasing a squirrel across a busy highway. My son-in-law said he and my four grand-children needed me. I turned the car around and went back to the house. My daughter, son-in-law and the grand-kids were in tears. The kids were inconsolable.
