I LOST MY SON CHASE IN 2001 AND I AM LIVING PROOF THAT GREIF NEVER GOES AWAY, GRIEF WILL MAKE YOU LIKE I WANNA SAY HEARTLESS AND COLD.BUT ALL THAT CAN BE DONE HAS BEEN DONE SO YOU TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Dear Donna

We are so very sorry for your loss and we, too, know that the grief never goes away but it does lessen so you can resume a more normal life. It takes some work on your part to avoid becoming heartless and cold and we recommend you find some help to deal with those feelings. There are many good grief counselors available and there is a group called Compassionate Friends that has chapters all across the country. You can find their website at http://www.compassionatefriends.org/? and links to their sites on the first page of The Grief Blog. . Each member of Compassionate Friends has experienced the death of a child and each has survived and grieved in his or her own way. With this group you do not have to walk this path alone and that is very important.

We invite you to listen on Thursday mornings to the radio show Healing the Grieving Heart? You can find information about it and a link to it on the first page of http://www.thegriefblog.com? You might also find a number of past shows that can give you help and comfort at http://thegriefblog.com/grief-grieving-death-of-a-child/

We are posting your comment on The Grief Blog because we know it will touch the hearts of those who feel as you do. Each grieving person needs to know that they are not alone in the way they feel and they can join you in taking it one day at a time.

Blessings,

Drs. Gloria and Heidi Horsley
